I celebrated today by doubling my regular monthly tzdakkah/giving budget, and donating that extra amount to Abundant Grace Coastside Worker (https://abundantgracecw.org/index.html)
They’re an organization in Half Moon Bay dedicated to transforming the lives of people experiencing homelessness. (And sadly, as in much of California, we’re seeing more and more people homeless here on the coast.)
Their approach its very unique. They don’t just give people stuff; they hire them. They hire them to grow and harvest fresh, organic produce for free distribution to low-income families. It’s a win-win-win. People have the dignity of meaningful, paid work. They have the experience of providing fresh, organic, nutritious food for themselves and others. And low income families get to receive this food that would not otherwise be available to them. A cycle of virtue.
I dedicate this small act on my part to the collective spirit of all of us together on this Global Day of Loving-Kindness.
May loving-kindness prevail. May peace prevail. May every person in Israel and every person in Gaza and every person on our planet know the blessing of living in safety, in comfort, in dignity and peace.
I was contemplating what my act of loving kindness was going to be during my morning prayer and meditation practice. Later this morning I was looking at our local Next Door notification email. I saw that neighbors wrote about volunteering with a Northern California dog rescue, Love and Second Chances. I read more and was impressed by the work they do by fostering at risk dogs including some oversees. . I am a cat person and don’t normal donate to strictly dog rescues, but their photos and stories were hard for me to resist. So I made a donation to support their amazing work.
Today, I made another contribution to Magen David Adom, as well as cleaned the garbage off the streets of my neighborhood. I pray for the hostages, for the well-being our our Israel soldiers and their families, for healing of all those wounded, and for the familes that lost loved ones. Mem Hei Shin. Baruch

Wonderful idea. I will participate in a meeting at 1:30 today to try to convince our Church Council to host the Warming Shelter this winter for at least 2 weeks.
Blessings, Judith
